Meet Our Providers

Brad Seely, MD

Dr. Brad Seely, MD is a board-certified Ophthalmologist who graduated from Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, New York. Dr Seely and his wife Dr Julee Richards have been providing care to the community for 30 years.  When he’s not treating patients, Dr Seely likes to golf, snowboard and fly fish.

Alex Willoughby, MD

Dr. Alex Willoughby, MD is a board-certified Ophthalmologist who graduated from Duke Medical School in Durham, North Carolina. When he’s not treating patients, Dr Willoughby enjoys all things outdoors including fly fishing, elk hunting, rafting, skiing and mountain biking with his wife, Sally, and their dogs Boone and Brutus.

Emily Armstrong, MD

Dr. Emily Armstrong, MD is an Ophthalmologist and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at UC Davis Medical Center and is ACLS and BLS certified. Dr. Armstrong practices a broad range of ophthalmology care, including cataract surgery.

When she is not treating her patients, Dr. Armstrong enjoys cooking, calligraphy and camping.

Lexa Van Volkenburg, OD

Dr. Lexa Van Volkenburg, OD is an Optometrist and a member of the American Optometric Association. She graduated summa cum laude from the Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University and completed her undergraduate degree in BioHealth Science at Oregon State University. Lexa was raised in Roseburg and is excited to begin her career in her hometown.

In her spare time, Dr. Van Volkenburg enjoys traveling, doing outdoor activities with her fiancé CJ, and going on walks with her dog JoJo.

Diabetics need a comprehensive eye exam annually.

Recommendations by the ADA and the AAO are that every diabetic receive a dilated exam every year. This allows for proper examination of the retina. The doctor will look for swelling near the macula, which is the functional center of the retina. The goal is to prevent swelling in this area and preserve your vision.
